MEET KAYLIN
Kaylin is a Canal Winchester resident with Lennox Gastaut (a form of epilepsy) and she was chosen to be BSF’s very first recipient of an independently planned room makeover. We’ve done a couple of fun room makeovers through an outside organization, but this is the first one we planned and orchestrated totally on our own. It was so much fun!
Kaylin and her family were given a night away with a hotel stay, a shopping spree, some fun at Dave and Busters, and a gift card for some ice cream! While Kaylin was away, we transformed her room into a fun space for her! We painted, added lighting, fixed a bed she already had, bought all new bedding and throw pillows, new blinds, new closet doors, a rug, added a desk, a reading nook complete with a custom cushion and matching valance, a really fun hanging chair, and then provided her with all new decorations.
The other big secret was that Kaylin’s awesome sister had a room idea she had envisioned and was in the process of creating. So, while they were away, we took Melia’s ideas and pulled her room together for her as well, complete with a full wall mural of Paris and some additional decor and fun items. Both girls were thrilled with their new spaces the volunteers created!
Thank you to all the volunteers and especially to Lowes of Lancaster for donating so many of the makeover supplies!
