BSF High School Scholarships 2020

DEFINITION OF BROCK STRONG

One of the highlights of the foundation’s year is certainly scholarship season! Each year since we started the foundation we have given away high school scholarships to Canal Winchester High School seniors. In order to be considered students must meet the following criteria: a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average, submit three letters of recommendation (one from an school administrator, one from a teacher, and one personal), and write a 500 word essay essay on what it means to them to be BrockStrong. Every year we receive so many awesome applications. And just like every year, we wish we could give scholarships to every applicant. The finalists, chosen by board members, are then interviewed, and this year we did our interviews via Zoom. We chose seven finalists and could not eliminate a single student, so we awarded scholarships to ALL SEVEN!

We are very proud to recognize this year’s winners of the $1,111.11 BrockStrong Foundation Scholarships:

Drew Adams

Blake Fry

Lexi Henkel

Cassie Kolonchuk

Addie Parker

Kevin Prior

Cearra Taylor

Typically these scholarships are presented at the high school awards night. However, we made another adaptation and surprised our winners by going out super early in the morning and placing banners in their yards. Then our board members visited each house with honking horns and an official presentation of their scholarship. We clapped and cheered and took pictures – with a safe distance, of course!

Thank you to David Gorman for donating the banners and to the American Red Cross for contributing to our scholarship fund for the blood collected at our blood drives!

To our winners: You are the definition of Brock Strong, and we cannot wait to see the good things you do for this world!
